A common condition caused by inflammation or irritation of the Achilles tendon. Particulary seen in athletes, from overuse, increased activity, improper footwear, or tight calf muscles, leading to pain, stiffness, and swelling near the back of the heel. Ankle sprains occur when the ligaments that support the ankle stretch beyond their limits and tear. These injuries are common in athletes and individuals who engage in physical activities. Symptoms include pain, swelling, bruising, and limited ability to move the ankle. Treatment includes rest, ice, compression, elevation, and physical therapy.
Plantar Fasciitis
An inflammation of the tissue connecting the heel bone to the toes, plantar fasciitis is often caused by overuse, improper footwear, or biomechanical issues.
Posterior tibial tendonitis occurs when the tendon that supports the arch of the foot becomes inflamed due to overuse or injury. This can cause pain and swelling along the inside of the foot and ankle. If left untreated, it may lead to weakening of the tendon and progressive flattening of the arch, known as posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. Early treatment can help relieve symptoms and prevent further complications.

Symptoms include pain that worsens with activity, swelling, and tenderness. Treatment involves rest, avoiding activities that cause pain, and protective footwear. In some cases, our foot care specialist may recommend physical therapy for rehabilitation.
